The Awsuma Tomato
Tomato, the co-webmaster of EarthBound.Net has left for the countrey of Japan. I am writing this article as a small tribute to his healthy vegetable goodness.
Tomato is the epitome of webmastering greatness. Surpassing even the great Reidman (you'd have to be great to put up with all the morons he deals with), for one basic reason. Tomato had an almost unhealthy code of principles. Which held him on the steely path of webmastering goodness. His knowledge of the Japanese language have given us valuable insights. Such as the gueige giygas connection, the Ness nude pic, and showing us exactly what Mr. Itoi said "OK 's' ka" and not bokista. In addition to this he has a site called Mother 2 to EarthBound and back again. Where all of his translating skills pay off in an awesome display of translation changes.
Though I'm relatively new to this community of EarthBounder fanatics, I think it's clear that Tomato is one of the few people who help push this site along. Sure the rest of the TRUE team work hard(TRUE is an acronym I picked up and use now T.Tomato, R.Reidman, U.Ultimoo, E.Ebounding), but I can't help thinking he was a driving factor in all of this. Tomato, has contributed to a lot of EB.Net's great works. Such as Project: Mister Sparkle (who is disrespectful to dirt!). Alot of the design of the webpage. As well as being a great moral pillar for us to place our lofty ambitions of digital godhood in this computerized world we call the world wide web, a stronghold of our morals even when we have the power to crush all (I bow before Reidman for showing awesome restraint. As well as Ultimoo the article/fanfic guy and Ebounding the mailbag guy).
Losing Tomato, at first will probably seem like losing an appendage. Now we won't have a right hand programmer to pass us stuff, and we'll have to wait for one of the other hands to get us stuff. We'll have to make do without a translator of Tomato's caliber (someone needs to become our official translator). We'll have to make do without someone to help organize midis and fan work. We'll have to make do without someone to be our amazing pillar of morality. We'll have to make do with just a RUE instead of TRUE to guide us!!!
However, Tomato isn't leaving us out of hate, necessity, oppertunity, or greed. In fact he's not leaving us at all. Our memory of him will guide us and act as that metaphorical pillar I keep reffering to for no particular reason. He isn't leaving, he's simply resting. He will still be able to communicate with us even in Japan, that's why this great digital world we have built our grand base of opperations in is called the WORLD WIDE web. Though Tomato may be the last to learn of this grand finale to a chapter of his legend, he's always going to be first on this web site. First as a programmer, translator, and friend.
Whenever we hear the word Tomato, from now on I hope we as a whole think of that word as something to do with greatness. He, the mighty Tomato, has opened a metaphorical gate (that I'll talk about when Reidman retires) for the rest of us EarthBound players.
