Hello! I think your game looks pretty good so far! With only these screenshots, there’s a few bits of feedback I can offer if you’d like:
- This could just be me but the eyes on your player sprites, specifically the pupils, are a bit hard to interpret, especially since they’re being upscaled for the portaits. Perhaps you could make it a bit more like this:
- I noticed some trees in the first screenshot are upscaled versions of EarthBound trees. Mixing sprites of different resolutions usually looks odd. For example, look at the outlines on the tree on the left V.S. the trees on the right. I would suggest avoiding upscaling small sprites as much as possible. Feel free to downscale high-resolution sprites as long as you keep it to a minimum.
- The bookshelves I see have dark black outlines while the original EarthBound art has softer outlines, more gray-ish ones that blend with the other sprite colors.
- Also, I notice that the bookshelves don’t seem to have shadows underneath them. Adding a shadow underneath them would help them like they have depth and take up space.
Other than that, it looks good. I’ll admit I’m a little curious to see where this is going. Good luck to ya! :)
