wait, what is MOTHER: EDEN
..hmm, if I were to compare MOTHER: EDEN to something.. it’d probably be a 4 star restaurant.. or maybe 3.5.. maybe I’m underestimating myself..
MOTHER: EDEN is a fangame made in RPG Maker VX Ace, set within the year 200X, we follow yet another set of 4 kids looking to find the cause of all the peculiar and terrifying events on their beloved island, Gaia.

All GIFs below are yet to be.. wait, it’s already been a year and we don’t have a proper overworld yet?! (We will work on it soon I swear, I only wanted to take an overworld screenshot to show off the very cool bike sprite.. sorry, Zephys!)

Planned Features :
- A run feature similar to MOTHER 1
- Optional side quests and post-game dungeons!
- Difficulty similar to Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne
- Challenging and Fun Puzzles
- Post-game Content
- Reworked sprites that are inspired by MOTHER 2 and MOTHER 3 combined.
- WON’T be available for Mac and Linux (sorry)

It’s looking really good!! The music in the non-battle parts is nice, I like the tune of it. The way the menus fade in and out is pretty interesting as well. Like I said before, totally loving the battle interface and stuff. Keep up the good work!!!

all item categories are capped at 18 slots except key items which does not have a cap.

I think that’s definitely the best thing to do, school is pretty important to focus on, especially in the beginning of the year. The game already looks so amazing, and I’m willing to wait as long as it takes to get it finished. Don’t feel pressured or anything about it, take as much time as you all need to deal with things before you start up again. Good luck with everything until then!!!

the “No problem here” feature is finally here.. after 2 months of figuring stuff out!

this has always been a staple feature in the MOTHER games, now when you interact with something that’s not an “event”, the game will remind you that you’re interacting at.. well, nothing!

we have decided to make updates when there is a major change or addition into the game itself, this way we can minimize spoilers for the game and have more surprises when it releases!

1 shop variant out of… well, even I don’t really know, but there will be different shop “layouts” for different places.

this is just a WIP, as we’re currently still using placeholder graphics (npcs, objects, tiles, etc.) and we probably will be using them until next year.

New feature alert! Oliver’s “Analyze” is the same as Jeff’s “Spy” and Boney’s “Sniff”, but unlike those, you can only analyze a singular type of enemies, when there are different types of enemies, Oliver gets confused (not in a status way, more like a logical way) and will be unable to analyze anyone else, this is an incredibly good tool for singular boss battles, and possibly some really strong enemies as well.

This is essentially a toned down spy skill, which is totally not like this because of limitations (but will try to get around it), this skill’s target is all enemies.

and when I do get around the limitations part, I will probably make this skill upgradable through the use of Oliver’s IQ stat (which is essentially Magic Attack stat now), and possibly some items as well, that way early on he would only be able to analyze a singular enemy type, and later on the game will be able to analyze a ton of enemies, the same or not!

some name changes for the stats :
IQ is now “Magic Damage”, it wasn’t really very clear on what it’s supposed to be doing, but now IQ increases the damage of PSI Attacks (crazy I know)
Vitality is now “Magic Defense” (yes, I know it was spelt incorrectly in the screenshot)
“Guts” is now.. well.. Luck.. it was a pretty unnecessary change, It’s only renamed to Guts because there isnt a way on how to add custom stats just yet that are visible on the stats screen, this will be like this for now until we can find a way on how to add custom stats, through events, scripts, etc..

“Guts” is no longer a stat that replaces “Luck”, instead, it describes the percentage of your critical chance within an item or equipment, with a maximum amount of 100%.

thank you! nope, this is being worked on by a friend group of mine, funny thing is that most of them dont really know what mother was until months ago lol, we’ll make sure we can make this game into something enjoyable for everyone even outside of the series.

been quite awhile, we’ve been working on more behind the scenes stuff instead of adding content, but here’s something related to npcs.

we have added an option to talk to several shopkeepers, they will all have different dialogue and personalities.
speaking of dialogue, each npc, including animals, will have randomized dialogue each time, so that it won’t be too repetitive and it gives each npc more personality. (but they can still repeat their randomized dialogue, each npc will have a minimum of 3 dialogues.)

This project will be entirely silent with updates for now, don’t worry, it will continue to be developed.
We decided to start fixing the engine itself, because as of the moment it’s filled with bugs and has an unorganized scriptset, we want to make sure that the engine will be able to handle what ideas we want to execute without crashing or doing some wacky things.
In the meantime, the original post will be edited with latest screenshots and information, this is why I’m making this comment originally, we hope to give you a pile of updates once we’re ready.

Wait.. it’s okay to revive an almost year old thread.. right?
Hey there! so for those who had an eye on this project for awhile now, we’re sorry for the huge hiatus in sending out updates to the community.. well, we actually were but I didn’t know when or how to announce a ""rebrand"" or some sort to this forum page but here we are now!
as you all know, it’s not “MOTHER: Resolution” anymore, it’s now “MOTHER: EDEN”, and we have made some big.. big.. BIG CHANGES! and we also pretty much started from the beginning, but of course the vision (mostly) stays the same for them game itself.
we have been making progress lately and I want everyone to know that no, this game isn’t dead, and no, this game isn’t cancelled (although it almost did once..)
Not only has the game changed, but also the dev team! we have some additions, and unfortunately some deductions, but the game is progressing faster this way and I’m happy about it!
speaking of dev team.. we’re also mentioning that you can totally apply to join the dev team of the game! all you have to do is to contact me via Discord and show me what you’re capable of, then we can talk about it

hey everyone! it’s been a month since I updated this thread.. so I thought maybe I should this month too!
a TON of changes happened.. too much to list in fact, the changelog is so big that discord dev builds have basically become league of legends patch notes (and yes, most of them cater to balancing) so we’ll be talking about the major changes
first off, ASSIST AND RECOVERY PSI HAVE SPEED PRIORITY! yes folks you heard that right, using assist or recovery psi will grant you extra temporary speed bonus for 1 turn and only for using that one specific psi skill, think of it as protect, feint or quick attack from pokemon.
of course, these speed stat bonuses will only add up if you have much more superior speed stat, still giving the base speed stat some kind of factor within play.
..umm what else, oh! new enemy sprites and backgrounds as show in the images and gifs below.. and we have a customized save file.. a ton new armor, weapons, items, a naming screen, a few gimmicks onto items, redefined sprites, a few music tracks.. yeah there’s quite a bit..

anyways have fun looking at these sweet new content! we’ll be seeing you in yet another few months or so!
