Anyway, the gist is what if the fan art community was a typical fantasy RPG world, with every town being a different sub category (art, writing, etc). Characters are forum users.

The main character is selected to host the next fan fest and choosing what the big event will be.

Will it be a writing contest?

An art contest?

A community gaming collab?

No.

Sounds pretty neat, I don’t think a recent take on a Starmen.net RPG with forum users as characters exists yet. I considered doing something like that for the Holiday Funfest but I ended up going with something different that I’m still not finished with due to school rip. Would be great for someone else to take a stab at it.

Also is no one going to acknowledge that Captain Muffin disappeared for six years and came back out of the blue to show us a game named after a very interesting (horrifying if you’re lactose-intolerant) challenge? I know I only officially joined this website two years ago but I remember Muffin’s XP Kit quite vividly, pretty nostalgic.

Since you got in, could you perhaps upload this here? This seems like an important part of old Starmen lore, and should be archived for future generations.

Hey everyone.

Yep, that’s Gallon Challenge. This was an RPG Maker game that I worked on sometime around 2012 or 2013. Many of the game’s creative decisions were made by a previous forum member, and I coded and implemented them into the game. It largely features Starmen members from around that time period. It’s a very by-the numbers RPG Maker game and it mostly features stock graphics and “frankensprite” monsters since that’s about all I was capable of at the time. The full game is about 3-4 hours long.

I don’t have much to say about the game, other than I see it the same way that Tobyfox probably sees the Halloween Hack. It’s both a look into the past of Starmen’s history and something of a time capsule about the culture of this forum a decade ago, but it’s also a great example of why you should never base a video game around real people lol.

If you do decide to play it, I won’t deny or defend anything in the game that may have aged poorly. Just know it very much was a relic of the very final days of the wild west internet.
