Hiya guys, what’s up? So I’ve always wanted to make my own video game (mostly a turn base combat RPG like the Mother series.) So I was just wondering if any of you guys know of a good program That I could use? Thanks.

Also I already tried U4 witch is way to complicated.

I’d suggest RPG maker for what you’d like to do! It’s an already fleshed out engine that you can just focus on writing stories and stuff! Good luck

I also suggest RPG maker, but, you have to REALLY search for scripts/plugins (depends on qich version you are using) for stuff like the battle system.

Right on. Do you know if you can make a Battle like Mother where you see your enemy straight in front of you? Or is it more like FF?

Little Game Maker of Horrors

Most of the RPG Makers are what you’re looking for, usually called Frontview battles, where you face the enemy straight-on.

RPG Maker 2003 only has Sideview battles, which is more like Final Fantasy. RPG Maker MV has the option for both.

Please take some time to review the RPG Maker FAQs, as I believe they will answer a LOT of your questions.

But yes, of course. You can make your own sprites and even code up systems for your game if you want. The newer versions of RPG Maker are much more power and customizable than the older ones, and even the old ones allowed for custom sprites to be imported.

There are also some great tutorials online for using RPG Maker. I would suggest starting there for learning the basics.

GrandDad23 I’m pretty sure that U4 is available on both PC and Mac.

Also, on the rpg maker topic, there are free to use codes on the web, most of them even not require to credit the autors, so it is a good choise. However, there are NO codes for rolling HP and PP in the newest version. There is one for Rpg maker vx ace, but the graphics that need to work are corrupted when downloading them, that’s why i do not use it, however, if you don’t care of that, it is not a problem, you can do great games with that engine.
