Ballz: Shattered is a remake of the infamous 1994 fighting game “Ballz 3D.”

Ballz is a fighting game where everyone is made of balls. Instead of being played in a 2D environment like most fighting games, it’s played in a 3D environment giving you more area to move around. It was widely criticized for it’s poor controls, unstable framerate, and annoying soundtrack. This remake aims to take the concept and fix it by making improvements such as:

Faster and more competitive gameplay
Online multiplayer
More characters
More stage variety
Improved controls
A freaking block button
Actual combos and tech
A new soundtrack

It’s being made in the Unity engine.

Returning fighters

Jester – The original game’s final boss
Kronk – A caveman
Boomer – A circus clown
Bruiser – A bodybuilder
Turbo – A superhero
Tsunami – A sumo wrestler
T-wrecks – A T-rex…. what did you expect?
Zombie – It’s a zombie….That should be pretty obvious
Guggler – An ostrich

New fighters

Blade – A ninja
Ian – A police officer
BILL9000 – A robot
Bones – A skeleton
Sarge – An army soldier
Merlin – A wizard
Revolver – A wild-western sheriff

Please note that these were taken at different times and resolutions, and will show some differences

Currently it’s in the alpha stage and everything seems to be going smoothly so far. I mostly post updates in the game’s discord server.
Please tell me what you think of it so far. I’m open to ideas and feedback, so feel free to place your ideas or feedback here or in the discord.

I’m not sure what I want more out of this;
This game to be a proper fighting game, or just as bad if not worse than the original game. Either way, looking forward to it!

I’m trying to make it a more proper fighting game while also keeping the original game’s “charm” and distinguishing it from other fighting games like Street Fighter or Smash Bros.

Wow, Ballz. I remember having a conversation with a friend about what it would take to buy a copy of that game, and I said I would have to be making thousands of dollars a month before even considering.

It’s funny how little kids know how the world works.

ANYWAY! It’s cool to see this! Really curious how it’s going to play.

Shattered has a form of finisher moves. However, they don’t work exactly like how you’d expect them to.

To perform a finisher, fill your special gauge and get your enemy’s health low enough. Once you’ve done both of these, press the B button to perform a finisher move. If you press B before your enemy’s health gets low enough, you’ll perform a special move if your special gauge is full. To fill your special gauge, perform combos, land hits, or get hit.
