Hey, our own forum... how 'bout that? Cool

Anyhoot, we're in need of goodies for the Fan Program section of the main site.

TUTORIALS REQUEST

Anyone interested in writing up a tutorial about coding, game
development, using programs (Game Maker, RPG Maker), or similar topics
of discussion please PM me.

RESOURCES REQUEST

If you'd like to submit resources you've created, this is the place.
You know... custom sprites, music, what not.

SUBMISSIONS

There's a slew of new programs in the works. If you have a demo or a
finished project you want to get out there go ahead and submit it
to the "Fan Games / Apps" section. I'm especially directing this
towards you guys working on fan-games.

It's possible there are many other programs that have been posted
but never submitted. Please bring them to my attention.

It might take me a while, I have work with my father alot so, I am guessing maybe about a week at most for this to be done.

Our local game maker The Dave [who just made Dusty Slots] makes a few tutorials here and there, I'll be sure to ask him about helping out the fan programs section.

I'l get started on them Sunday evening if they would.
oh, and I submitted those fonts a couple days ago too.
and off i go on vacation

Sweet, sounds like a plan.

I made a GM6 tutorial, but it's a .gm6 file. And I'm not sure if it could help with fangames, but here it is anyway. It goes over movement, shooting, simple enemies, drawing text on the screen, alarm usage, and variable usage. It's all done in drag and drop, and commented too. I have some other examples on my site http://www.dcmsoftware.net/pages/gamemaker.php if you want to look through them and are accepting other things besides text files. I could do a platformer example if you're interested. You also may want to post a link to the Game Maker Community - http://gmc.yoyogames.com if you didn't already know the URL.

Well I tried to imitate Jonk's design a bit in this since I think it's best to be consistent. I'd have preferred to actually use his style since it's seen everywhere else in the site. From a design aspect, having varying designs looks shoddy. Then again, this is a fansite. I know there are jaggies, but it looks fine on the page, I just wanted to make the image an 8-Bit PNG so it wouldn't be huge and would still look nice for our IE6 users. Either way, since we don't seem to have image displaying features enabled in this forum yet, click the link to view it. If it's too small, I can resize it accordingly. I can also update it if it looks too simple. I think I could easily work the starman logo into it if someone would like to see that done.

Heres An easy tip for some people using RPGMAKER, If you have a ton of music you want to import to a new project the best thing to do is locate the game directory and place the sounds/music in the correct file, this can save you a load of time if you have like 40+ midi files you want to upload rather then doing it through the game.

L+R+Start+Select

Be sure that you put it in the game's directory. Problems will occur if you put the file into the RTP folders. Also note, this only works with music, sounds, and maybe any graphics without transparency. Sometimes RPG Maker will have trouble picking the transparency color if it isn't directly uploaded.
