Hi! Welcome to the Fan Forum! I’m sure you have a lot of art and music you’re excited to post, and we’re excited to see it! But before you do, take a look at these rules to make sure you’re not breaking any rules. I want to see you start off on the best foot possible.
THE FAN FORUM RULES
1. Only post art that you yourself created.
- If you want to post something made by a family member or a friend, get their permission and state in the post that you didn’t make it.
- If you used stock photos or other open-source resources from somebody else in your project, please put credit to the original creator in your posts. It’s good art etiquette, and then we moderators won’t get confused and think that you’re stealing art. It’s happened before.
2. Post mature content in a spoiler tag.
- Mature content means anything with violence, sensuality, language, etc. If you wouldn’t see it in any of the Mother games, it’s probably mature content, and you should consider putting it in spoilers to warn viewers.
- A warning: If your art is deemed excessively inappropriate by a mod, it may be subject to removal. Remember, minors visit this site. Don’t post stuff that will traumatize anybody, or NSFW stuff that will get people in trouble. It’s not cool.
- One more important thing: Child pornography/pedophilia will result in an instant ban. Do not post any of that here. It’s against the law.
3. If you want to start a forum game or collaboration, remember to PM a moderator first.
- We have the authority to approve your idea for the forum, and maybe even help get you up and running. If you post a game or a collab without approval first, it might get locked Don’t let your idea get shut down! Get your idea approved first.
4. Don’t make prospectus topics.
- A prospectus topic is considered any project topic that doesn’t have any content in it yet. We want to see your idea when it’s at its best, after you’ve put some thought into it to help get it off the ground.
- For more information, check out AnnK’s helpful guide to Prospectus Topics.
5. Keep everything contained within topics.
- Don’t post about the same work in multiple topics, unless you’re looking for critique in the Art Critique topics. Keeps things tidier this way.
6. Don’t double post on other people’s topics.
- Instead, use the edit button to add comments to the post you just made.
- Similarly, try not to double post on your own topics unless you have something significant to add.
Remember: The Fan Forum is for art and video. Creative Writing goes in the Writing forum. Fan games/programs go in the Fan Games or PK Hack forums. EDIT 3/4/15: And music goes in the Music board!
Before you make a topic for your newest project, consider whether your art would fit in better into one of the long-standing topics we already have. Don’t be afraid to bump any of these topics- they’re always fair game for new content.
- General Art Advice Topic: Need any art-related advice? Want feedback on an art piece, Mother or not? Post it here!
- Mother 1+2+3 Official Gallery: If you have a pile of fanart from Mother 1, Earthbound, Mother 3, or any Mother characters from Smash Bros (or anywhere else, for that matter), go ahead and post it here!
- Non-EB Art Official Gallery: For any other art that doesn’t have to do with the Mother series, post it here! Can be fanart from other fandoms, or can be original art- figure drawing, sketchbook stuff, and what have you. All is welcome here.
- VIDEO Gallery – Official Topic: For any and all videos/vines/Flash videos/what have you, Mother related or not.
- Starmen.net Photo Gallery: For photographs. And not just the artsy photography kind, either. Feel free to post selfies and photos of your food, if that’s what floats your boat. Any and all photographs are welcome.
- Fanvatar Factory: Every once in a while, a user who has earned an avatar to use on these forums will request a new one. Requests are processed through this thread. More information in the OP.
Also, remember that if you’re making a new topic, it can help to label it by what kind of topic it is. [REQUEST] for request threads, [COMIC] for a comic you’re starting, etc. More people will check out your stuff if you say what kind of stuff it is! Use good judgment to decide if a label is right for you.
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to PM IgneousWyvern, the Fan Forum mod, me, or any of the other super mods/admins. We’d be happy to get you sorted out.
I look forward to seeing your stuff! Happy posting!
