The Eagle Has Landed

Are you by any chance a fan of my "Gripes About EB64" trilogy?? You're probably not, so this is your lucky day! Just the opposite!! I found myself in a usual situation on Tuesday night. My brother was hogging the computer for God knows how long and I needed to get on to check up on everything. He was like, "Okay, let me just check what's new on ANT." For those of you who don't know, there is a very large network of gamers on AOL who run this AOL site called Antagonist, Inc. They are very reliable, very efficient in what they do, and overall just a great place to check out! Each and every year, they send two top gamers out to cover E3. Past journeys to E3 had led some of the staff to meet legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, the man now in charge of Mother 3 production. So my brother wanted to spend a couple of more minutes on AOL.

My reaction of course was "NOOOOO!!!! Get off now!!!!!" Man do I regret that, he swiftly accessed the ANT site, and lo and behold, they had a complete official listing of all the games that would be shown at E3. I'll give you half a guess why I'm so excited about this list, and why I'm making the effort to write a full-length article about it. As you may have seen in Eddie Virgillio's article "EarthBound @ E3," Nintendo's previous, indefinite listing was missing all but two games set for future release. One of these games, they explained, is a sequel to an NES and SNES game. Another is a massive cartridge, now weighing in at a whopping 512 megs. Cutting to chase, as I always decide to do about halfway through the article, the complete listing included EarthBound 64. However, it was not listed under the title "EarthBound 64" or "Mother 3."

The new tentative title is EarthBound: Mother 3. I'm glad to see that Nintendo has been straying from the easy way out titling all their games with a 64 after it. Of course I was ten times as overjoyed by just seeing it in print. Also, as you have seen on the main page, the game is set for a Spring 2000 release in Japan. This factoid, however, opens up even more questions. What about the Nintendo 2000, slated for a late 2000 release? I have my greatest hopes on an N64 American release by the time I graduate high school in 2002. This may sound kind of ridiculous but I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised should Nintendo decide to indefinitely delay the game again for a N2000 release. Anyway, in conclusion, it is safe to say that the future of EB.net is on its merry way.
