Category Awards

Three Places (First through Third), one Runner Up, and one Honorable Mention for the following will be presented for each the four categories. Each First Place recipient will receive a copy of The EarthBound Anthology. Second Place winners get a Foppy Figurine. Those who place in Third will get their own Starmen.net E-mail address. Forum Avatars, Ranks, and Badges will be given to those in First and Second Place, First through Third place + Runner Up, and First Through Third + Runner Up + Honorable Mention, respectively.

Rockin' Ω

The main focus of the Categories this year is an all-around balance of idea, implementation, and love. Winners' entries will exhibit the best blend of creativity and skill, like Libra's Candy Onett, Radiation's PK Hack project, Arn's Winter Quest, or Unlimited Lumpia's Defeated Courage

Overall Awards

Each of the following will have a First Place, Second Place, and Third Place entry as well as one Runner Up. Each First Place recipient will receive a Foppy Figurine as well as a forum avatar, rank, and badge. A Second Place earns you a Starmen.net E-mail address, forum rank, and badge, and the Third Place winners net a forum rank and badge. Each Runner Up will receive a badge.

Homesick for the Holidays

For the submitters who captured the serene holiday atmosphere best. Example: Coreyback and his Starman Santa or Sappho and her fic, The Night Before Exmas.

Brain Food Lunch

For submitters who put a lot of thought and creative juice into their submissions. Example: I Am EarthBound by xfisjmg1 or Your Sanctuary Quilt by toader

Level Grind

For the submitters who got put tons of time and effort into their works (this will NOT be judged on quantity!). Example: kota12 and his Holiday Wallpaper.

MOTHER-ly Love

For the submitters who simply exude EarthBoundaliciousness. Example: matilda_caboose and his The Festive Side of the Moon.

Criteria

Entries will be judged according to the personal taste of the judges, and based loosely on the guidelines found in the 'Awards' section. If an entry deserves to win first place for half the categories, it will. But, while an entry may be recognized for multiple awards, please note that no submitter may win more than one prize of the same type! For example, a submitter may win an Anthology and a Foppy, but s/he can't win two Anthologies or two Foppies.

In the event that a submitter wins multiple awards, the prizes will 'cascade' - the First Place prize will go to the Second Place, the Second Place's go to winner of Third Place, and so on.

Judges

One judge has been assigned to each category. The overall judging will be a collaboration between the judges and any staffers who didn't make an entry in the funfest.

  EarthBound Anthology 3rd Edition w/ 2 DVDs

  That's right, for the first time, the EarthBound Anthology will be made available to the fans. This is the third edition, differentiated from the first two by some minor changes (mostly typographical) and the consolidation of the data discs from 4 to 2. The Anthology is the brainchild of Mr. Jon Kay.

  How To Get: Win First Place in any of the Category Awards (Audioviz, Compart, Hanart, Writing).

  4 copies of the Anthology will be given out -- so, if you win one, please note that you'll be required to provide reidman with an address to send the Anthology to, and you might not get it for a few weeks.

  A Foppy figurine (about 1" tall), cast in red resin and then hand-painted by Camille Young.

  The ability to sport an avatar on the Starmen.net forums. Note that this is just the ability to have one: you'll have to either make your own or request one to be made for you in the forum's Avatar Factory.

What is it?

The Funfest is a relatively ancient Starmen.Net tradition dating back to 1999. It's pretty much just a submission-fest. People send holiday-themed EarthBound (or MOTHER) stuff into the site, we post it, sometimes ctoner hits the eggnog a bit hard and gets taken down by a taser-happy Santa -- good times are had.

What's the point?

The goal here is to have some fun. Without doing anything at all, you can enjoy checking out some of the great stuff that the creative minds of EarthBound fans come up with. If you want to flex some creative/artistic muscle, then enter something! You can spend 5 minutes on it, or you can spend a month on it.

Requirements

Since this is Starmen.Net's Holiday funfest, there are only two requirements - it should have something to do with MOTHER / EarthBound (or Starmen.Net, at least), and it should have some kind of relation to the Holidays or the snowy season of winter -- snowflakes, carolling, snowcapped trees, family get-togethers around a roaring fire, etc. If you need some ideas, you can check out the 2006 Holiday Funfest.

We get pretty much everything - the occasional Fanfic, tons of Fanart, too many Flukes, not nearly enough Fanimations, and once in a while even a Fan Game.

Restrictions

Submissions: You can submit as many entries as you want. But submitting a million entries won't get you anywhere unless at least one of them is very good, so put some thought and effort into it!

There's no limitation to your entry's filesize, but if it's too huge, you probably won't be able to upload it to Starmen.Net without some issues. In that case, you can stick it up on any site (we might recommend Dropsend) and send a PM to Artemis251 to tell him where to get it.

Content: Obviously, your entry shouldn't contain anything inappropriate for a site that has young visitors.

Prizes: You can only win one of each type of prize. Please note that we will probably try to spread the prizes out so that only the really ridiculously excellent entrants end up winning more than one prize.
